Originally from the United Kingdom (Great Britain) I have been making a living as a landlord since 2008. My property investing career began at the age of 24 after reading a book called 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' which inspired me to leave my job with the British Army and embark upon an exciting career in property investing. Today I enjoy living in the wonderfully vibrant Philippines and helping other overseas retirees to venture out here and secure their own piece of paradise.

Why invest in Iloilo City, Iloilo

Iloilo is a real up and coming city the the Philippines with a long and exciting history. Iloilo has to be one of the safest of all the large cities in the Philippines with friendly, reliable and (mostly) trustworthy locals it is a very enjoying place to live and work. Most high flying locals will live in the area of Pavia just north of the main city, the most popular development there being Savanah. Jaro has always been one of the more pleasant areas around Iloilo, La Paz is extremely busy but it is Mandurriao which has seen the most significant development. It is the old city airport in Mandurriao which is now being quickly developed into the financial and business capital with the building of the Mega World complex, all surrounding real estate has benefitted from a sharp increase in values. Molo is a less expensive area, while must housing there is rather small it is close to the main city. If you are looking to buy houses to rent as a landlord you would struggle in Iloilo as the cost of property is very expensive for the Philippines and rental returns would never come close to covering expenses. Despite being an expensive area to buy a house the city is wonderful with many historical and modern features to explore and if you enjoy a bit of night life make sure to visit smallville. If you are looking for something a little cheaper and nearer to the beach then you could try Guimbal a small village to the South.
